Can any audio gurus recommend a fairly low cost upgrade for the EVO I just picked up ?
I plan on keeping the head unit and I'm looking for speaker replacements that fit into the factory slots and a reasonable amp if one is necessary. I'm not entering any car stereo competiotions, I'm just looking for a good option to replace the paper cone stock speakers and fit everything under the existing grill covers. Thanks.

I believe they are 6 3/4. Just like the US Lancer! You might have to get 6 1/2 and make a plate for them to fit!

 

I bought some pioneer 3-way 6 1/2 speakers that came with the 6 3/4 adapter plates but i didn't need the adapters. The speakers sound very good and they were *buy one pair get the second pair half off* at best buy.

 

I just wanted somethign that sounded good... and ended up spending like 1500$

get a small kicker 4 way amp. 500/4 or 600/4 (dont' know what incriments kicker makes them in) and some jl speakers. that small of wattage ya won't have to run anything other than factory size wire except for the power I would use like a 8gauge.

that shouldn't run to much if ya install it ya self... maybe 600ish maybe 700.
