what sort of connection do you have, firewire?

also, what type of computer are you trying to use for vid editing?

go to the jvc website and download drivers for your camera. you probably need the proper USB or firewire drivers in order to connect your device. they probably have some software too to make it easier to get them off the camera.

Yea,what cup said. I have the same camera and make DVD's and crap all the time. You need to DL the driver and have a firewire (IEEE 1394) connection and the miniDV cable (instructions are in the manual). Then you can use what ever software you have for the movies (I used to use Microsoft MovieMaker that came with XP). You should have a disc with all the drivers.
Did that help at all?
