dumb sub questions

I can't type: It's supposed to be "dumb sub qustions"

I have never done a system with a sub before, and since I don't have a pass through trunk, I figure it is past time. But, I don't know squat about subs - so any suggestions?

I have been looking at the Kicker Solo-Baracs.... I am thinking a single 10" is probably enough... it will be powered by a bridged Rockford-Fosgate Power Amp running at 275 watts at 4 ohms.

FYI - I am most interested in sound quality, I listen to every type of music in my car from electronic, classical, metal, and hip-hop so smoothness is a huge priority.

thanks!

ok to be honest yes that is a good sub but it could probably use a lil more power

to save you some money i recomend this, buy 1 or 2 alpine type r's. some argue they are better others don't. if you ask me its all about the box that you put them in and the alpines do sound better in a standard sealed box that the kickers would. so buy the alpines get 1 or 2 amps depending on how many subs you got 1 per sub because they eat up the power

after you buy those and realize you have no money save up and buy a component speaker system if you stick with infinity, alpine, kicker your good to go but whatever you do do not buy anything from sony they suck soo much

now for my soap box...
not to get a million hate responses on that sony comment but they do, has anyone ever taken apart one of their "1000 watt" amps? i have and there is nothing in there and to booot its obvious they are not 1000 watts because the fuses on the sides are only for 500 watts. and their recievers suck as well because my buddie has one and i can pull up next to him turn my system on and make his cd player skip, if he turns his up too much it skips sony is junk and should have just stayed with home audio and electronics. imo

after doing a some additional research I think I am going to go with a single Boston Pro 10", and Boston Pro 6 1/2" components in the doors. I am not at all conserned about SPL - I just want it to sound very clean.

Sony does suck unless it is all sony. Sony can auctually sound half decent when the entire system is sony. My opnion would be go jl for subs and infinity for interior components in front 3 ways in rear

Depending on where you're purchasing the Boston, you can probably get an Image Dynamics 10IDv3 for a bit less cash (only 129.95). Not to rag on Boston any, because they do make a great product, but IMO the Image Dynamics drivers just can't be beat for SQ and they've got the ability to get LOUD if needed. (and who's to say everyone doesn't need that once in a while)

There's only 1 internet authorized retailer for ID, and it's www.sounddomain.com Other than them, you'll have to call ID and ask where the nearest dealer is if you don't know.

subs

To be honest if you want good quality subs that sound good with all type of music, then I would look in to JL subs. They sound awesome. I listen to all types of music and their perfect. i have JL 12w6's and they bump. i wish i had a more powerful amp though my RF punch 500w just sucks *** and always over heats because my subs can handle so much more power. I have it bridged by the way. JL is a VERy good investment

trigeek if your going with the Boston Pro 6 1/2
make sure its seal nicely, some danmate will help ,and make sure u have the room for it on the front door befor u buy them. i think the boston need alot more room then other components.
And as for sub. I just wire my amp speaker output to 2 quick conects. amp is hidden under the passanger seat. speaker wire run to the trunk, connected to 2 quick connects. this way i can remove my 10 inch bazzokas, and can try out allmost any subbox combo.Plus at the solo cross track u can take out your subbox in like 10 sec.
