Sub problem

I got this problem with my sub. When I turn the key I get a bass hit, when I turn the headlights on I also get a bass hit. When I'm driving with low volume music off a radio station, which has no bass I get hits.

I've already tried switching amps, subs and RCA's. The problem is still there. Do you guys have an idea of what's going on with my setup.

BTW, my power line is on one side of the car, and my speaker lines are on the other side.

Yeah, it sounds like a problem with the remote wire. Did you connect it to something like your ignition so that it turns on the amp when the key is turned?

yea, it cant be anything but the remote wire seems like. if its hooked to your head unit, then it comes on when the car turns on. thats not good, cuz its always eating off of your battery.

You want it to be hooked up to your HU. You may of hooked it up to the wrong remote wire for your HU harness. I know mine had two remote wires.

I do have an aftermarket HU. IT a kenwood, I'll make sure my remote wire is connected to the right place. If I remember right, I tested the wire before pluging it in. I took the wire where power was coming only when the head unit was on. I might have misplaced it after testing the wire though. I'll check that.

No, I do not have a capacitor. As soon as I get a new job I will though, cause my new dual 12" box has been sitting in the basement for tooooooo long.

Thanks for your input guys. I'll keep you up to date on the final diagnosis.

Thanks again

I just finished checking all my wiring behind the HU. My remote wire is hooked up to the only 12V output from the HU. I am starting to beleive the Head unit is at fault. Good thing I baught the extended warranty.

Would it be possible that my RCA output got somehow damaged or something?

Well, the thing is I don't have the factory harness. I had to buy another cause I left the original in my previous car

On the harness I currently have, there is P. Cont, Cont. Ext and P.Antena. Only the P.Cont has voltage output. Do somebody knows the meaning of those acronyms?

check your groundings too, use a better rca like those thick ones, and use a thicker wire that connects directly to the battery from your amp. it should work

P.Cont probably means continous power

P.Antenna probably means power antenna (where you would probably want to hook into the remote turn on wire)

no idea what Cont.Ext means

On most HU's there should be a Remote sub lead. I'm not to sure about kenwood, but it should still be the same. Check all connections make sure they aren't crossing any other connects.
