Lancer Audio System 2008 upgrade?
I recently purchased an 08 lancer es. I wanted the Rockford Fosgate package but determined it was too much cost wise for the actual value. I want to put a sub and amp into the factory stereo. I noticed that where the tweeters would be if I had gotten the fosgate package there are wires and i also notcied that where the subwoofer would be there is also a 4 pin wiring harness. I checked the 4 pin wiring harness for power with a multimeter and there was none. Does anyone know that the harness in the trunk is for ? Also does anyone know if the wires where the tweeters should be are hooked up to the factory system ? What would be the best way to go about installing an amp and subwoofer into my 2008 Lancer ?
thanks
thanks
about the 4 pins in the trunk it might be leading to the head unit where its just there for u to hook up. if u have the nav system, u can take out the unit and there would be pins back there that are not hooked up.

hmm thats what i was thinking. I am going to go to the dealer tomorrow and ask them or atleast ask the salesperson who sold me my car if I could look at one with the rockford system to see if the same harness connects the subwoofer. If that harness is for signal from the head unit then all I would have to run is a power wire for the amplifier. If anyone else knows any more information please let me know.
I believe the car is pre-wired for the system and all equipment options and left hanging and disconnected if you order it without the equipment... Cheaper for a mass production car to have just one wiring setup I would think.

It is under the drivers seat. You can see it from the back seat if you move the drivers seat up all the way forward. There is a black case around it, im guessing for protection from back seat passenger's feet. Ill try to take a photo in the morning. Its too dark right now.

YOu can't get the sound without the sun is my understanding. Bundled package.
As for the sound... yes, sure you can get aftermarket and match or easily exceed the sound quality (and probably for quite a bit cheaper, depending on what you do). If you want the RF sound and the nav system your price will skyrocket either way... that NAV unit is very good, about the only shortfall is no direct USB plug in for dumping MP3s directly to the unit. You won't get the same kind of 'replace it' warranty, nor the length, that you get with the factory system either.

thx for ur info
wow..
cuz in canada...the sunroof n sound system package is 2000CAD...
so the sound system is about 1000CAD maybe?
i wonder how much i need to put in to match or even exceed the sound quality of the Rockford Fosgate one...is it really gonna b a lot cheaper than 1000CAD?
sry about the dumb questions...
i dunno anythin about sound system

thx for the info
Metra kit: $40
Double din touchscreen thats better: $400+
The 10x was an over exageration. Rockfords sound quality is crap. They are known for bass. Headunits are "ok". I would rather go with a Pioneer or JVC to be honest. Then drop in a set of Cadence components in the front and back. Cadence sub and 2 Cadence amps. All for about $1500 and it will destroy the RF system.
