-08 lancers with "diamond" style key-its possible but a key does have to be made that key its 99.00 list

08 lancers with "old school" style keys kinda like the evos. same deal...

And in a less extreme case, if I drop my regular key with attached remote starter somewhere, I wont be able to get into the car to grab the spare key.
Have a cheaper regular key made and place it in your wallet.

No one know that the key is behind the glove box. You wouldn't put it in the glove box.

Hmm yes thats an idea. I wonder if i could get hold of another basic key, with no remote or chip. Use that as my new spare key, and use the chip out of my current spare key for the remote starter. Will have to look into that.

- Optional external Siren (six-tone)
- Optional super bright blue LED
- Driver's priority unlock

although the 5000 feet of range is kinda deceiving since like...one fu*ckin tree in the way will cut that distance in half..

no joke

Where abouts did you get it done, and a rough cost. Was it at a large chain store or a smaller one?

It says the US models get 3000' of range I'll test out the range on Monday from work. I'll be buried deep in a building about 500m from the car. Lets see how it holds up.

I went to Ziebart, its a chain store. As for cost, I managed to get it for $650 installed.

In regards to the key, i think they just buried/hooked it up with the brain of the starter. Not sure where they put that, maybe behind the dash or below the steering column.

I havent had any issues with unlocking or locking the car. I can unlock it either from the remote starter itself or my regular key.

I work at a place thats puts in 4-6 starters a day (we live in the north!) We primarily use AstroStart remote systems. We use DataLinks to bypass anything, you connect the bypass module to the computer, program from datalinks website, and then the bypass will do what you need it to, pending on the application. It can bypass locks, security, clutch/parking systems, and other things. It makes it easy as you can program the datalink in minutes, and then hook it up to the remote starter in one of its accessory slots. the Datalink website has a library of almost all domestic and import cars, trucks, SUV's, ranging from the early 90's to brand new. Makes things ALOT easier than taking apart keys.

yeah, go to a place that does remote starters with iDatalink bypass modules, if you phone and ask they will know what your talking about, if not, keep calling. I checked on the computer at work and they have the 2008 Lancer listed on the AstroChart (the program that gives you information on all the underdash wiring, about 20 differet wires, along with location, and polarity). Heres the site for iDatalink:
http://www.idatalink.com/product/idatalink_page.asp

under the "update module" menu is where all the bypassing options are for specific models, but it needs to detect the module VIA USB first. Just thought i'd show you guys this option because its ALOT easier than taking apart keys, and the module goes between 50-90 pending on which one you get/need.

remote start can be done by using the "Directed 556u" universal remote start bypass module ... btw if you guys wanna do it yourself the alarm is pretty easy. i got the diagram if anybody needs it or jus look for the 2007 Outlander diagram. wires are similar except for locks and parking light. if needed just let me knoe and ill post the diagram for you guys. and yes you can trust cause i own a motorsports shop here in hawaii

Get the PKU-MIT module, this is essentially a key without a shaft. You program it to the car as if it were a 3rd key, then hide the box under dash, etc... you dont need to leave the key inside the car!

I just installed one in a 06 MR and it works like a charm, owner still has both keys!

read about it here http://www.bypasskits.com/

p.s. Dealer scan tool is NOT required to program, but 2 working keys are...
