No sound coming out of 2 rear speakers?

I just noticed this week that theyve been crackling, and theres not a sound coming out of them. Are they shot? If so,where would i find the right speakers for them? Whats best kind? how hard is installation?

thanks!

Stock headunit? First find out that it's indeed the speakers. You could have had the rear channels from the HU go out... CC, BestBuy, local shop, wherever. They all do the same stuff, but just at difference prices.

Ok,so..im not an expert on this stuff. What are some signs of HU channels going out? My passengers side rear speaker does work now,but still there an annoying fuzzy crackling. The sound itself isnt distorted or anything, but theres that fuzzy sound when songs arent that loud. Thats with treble at 1,bass at -1,and fad and bal at 0. The drivers side speaker is dead. no sound..

So what would they charge to look at it?

picke up an inexpensive multimeter & check the connections urself. save a ton of money. could be that the heat & age destroyed the rears. happens all the time with speakers in the rear that fire up. or maybe one of the connections to the rear came loose if u put something large in the trunk...

Yeah, just crawl into the trunk and look at the spade terminals under the speaker to make sure they're tight.

Yeah,i'll have to check that, cuz my drivers side rear is totally dead, but the sound coming out of the other is good,if i listen to an all out loud rock song the other ones fine, because i cant hear the crackling, but if its noth that intense of song you do ,lol.

Does anyone know how many watts the rear speakers have? What would be the best brand to buy? Pioneer? Roadmaster? My last annoying question is what are the measurements of the rear speakers..

thanks

theyre 6.5" speakers @ 15 watts.

i just bought energy component speakers for my rear and theyre amazing. take a couple of days to break in but they for sure measure up to infinities. if you're going to expensive route. either way if you stick with infinity or energy you're usually pretty safe with speakers i find.

you want to make sure that theyre at least 60w max in case you get a new head unit. btw a new deck might be an idea the stock speakers i find actaully can pump out quite a bit. i got a panasonic 50wx4 deck and it sounds awesome with the stocks.

Yeah, they'll work okay with a new HU...but they'll blow, like mine did. Just upgrade while you're back there. Something cheap will be fine.

i have 4 of those speakers in my lancer, they sound alright. the stock are made of cardboard like material lol. when i replaced mine, the back 2 were blown out and i didnt even know.

if you aren't planning on blowing your eardrums out then they're fine, i use em w/ 2 12" kicker comp vr's. & 1000 watt amp.

its no pro audio system, but enough for a small car.

Seeing that they're 4-way and that you'll only be running them off HU power, plz stick with a simple 2-way speaker with a lower RMS. Like 15-20 minimum RMS. You're more likely to blow a speaker by under-powering them than the reverse!
