12inch sub... What else do I need?

Hey guys I Have a 12 inch sub and I want to know what else do I need to get this hooked into my car?

12' Sub (own)
Box (NN)
Amp (NN) how much power?
Cables (NN) ???

I dont know much about sound systems but I'm fairly positive with your help I can get this in my car.
I've had it for several years in my closet! Fear not, it should work, its looks just fine.
If not, I'll buy a new one.

There is a local shop near my house buy I feel like they might rip me off... :-\ they install 3 alarms and 1 of which came out fine. My girl friends and my best friends are too sensitive, to the point, they cant be used.

So I wont go there. But your help would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks.

what kind of sub? check the power handling on the sub (RMS wattage) and find an amplifier with the same (RMS) output. Do you have an aftermarket radio with RCA outputs? If not then you would need LINE OUTPUT CONVERTERS to make your rear speaker wires compatiable with the RCA. You will also need an amplifer wire kit, which should include a power wire with a fuse, a remote wire, a ground wire, and a set of RCA's with all of the appropriate connectors..

Yeah, just let us know what sub exactly you have and we'll design a system around it.

Well... no matter what sub it is, all you need is a box, amp and wiring kit. That's the short version of what you NEED. And obviously, as everyone else has said, better quality = better sound. But I have heard cheaper systems blow away "Professional" high powered systems, because they were built to specs not just for looks. Something to concider. Good luck!

Yeah If you could get the specs of the Sub then everything else would fall into place. Do you have a CD player or useing factory system??

i have a few questions:

i have a 12" sub + amp + all the necessary wires to connect the amp with the sub and power it, but i don't know if the standard 08 lancer radio needs anything else to connect with the amp. and i don't want to let everything hanging until i buy whatever is needed. i have the 1.8 CVT with 6 speakers. also, does anyone know if the room under the seat is ok to put the amp? thanks
