Head Unit Question

i have a pioneer flip/detachable hu, and i hate how it lights up blue/green cause it screws up my red theme. on the metal connectors that connect the faceplate to the actual unit, i put a peice of paper over the connection that lights everything up. all other buttons work, it just doesnt light up.

this is perfect, but is it safe? i think it would be, since you can detach the face and drive like that safely, so just blocking the connection of one of the prongs should be alright? right?

Should be fine just so long as that pin only controls the lighting. I'd say you're good to go so long as you don't start noticing any weird behavior from it, but you'd have probably already noticed that I'm guessing.
