here is one thiefs never think about.... the fuse to the fuel pump!!!!. or just hook up a swithc to the relay and i guraantee the thief will be stumped. just some food for thought. but this can also be applied to other things such as the remote wire to the computer etc. hope that helps spawn some ideas. or if any thing else you can take the plug wires with you

yeah the fuel dump disconnect switch is good. But you have to REALLY hide it. Another cool option is the anti carjack from jspecjdm.net

I have a question about the engine immobilizer system on the EVO (didn't find a definitive answer from a search). How is the engine immobilizer bypassed by the car thief?

they just need to take the car cover out.
r u talking about stalling their precious time to steal?
Well, it'll make your Evo a bit less obvious to track... and, why bother taking extra time to take your car cover off when s/he can spend half the time and get what s/he need from your neighbor's car?

Trade-in your EVO for a Buick Century Thieves will get what they want, regardless. If you trip them up somehow, then they might get pissed off and vandalize the car. Just don't worry about it too much

My uncle's Challenger has a fuel pump power cut. The fuel cell is in the trunk, and if you open the stock gas cap, there's the kill switch.

It's really kinda neat, since I doubt anyone that wants to steal a car in a hurry would fully once over the thing looking for a kill switch.

I would suggest a 2-way pager type alarm(ex. python 880xp) or maybe something with a wireless immobilizer, that cuts the fuel when in doesn't get a signal from the alarm brain(ex. most Clifford models). Also lo-jack, and just basic common sense about leaving valuables in plain view and what not. My friend has an auto lock, that blocks the pedals, it works great when you remember to use it. Problem is, my friend gets tired of putting it on every single time he parks somewhere. real smart huh!?..But with a flatbed truck you could steal anything regardless of security mods. My fist suggestions would hinder most amatuer thieves though

Thumbs down F-ck LoJack

I had a car stolen that was equipped with LoJack. It only works when the cops turn it on, and it's only turned on when you file a police report. You either have to flag down a passing cop car or you have to get to a police station.

My car was stolen in front of witnesses who ran inside to tell me that my car was gone. I called 911 to say, "My car's heading eastbound. Turn on my LoJack". That's when the operator told me how LoJack really works.

My car was recovered later in the evening with all the good bits taken and nobody in sight. Screw LoJack!

when i bought my evo, it came with an immobilizer. you wave the magnetic device against the dash and it beeps. they said if they steal the car with this system they will give me $5000. thats their guarentee. not quite enough to buy another car though.

According to the owner's manual, there is a transponder device in the keys that acts as an additional security authentication. If you ever get your keys replaced, you would need to know the special serial number of your keys so a new transponder can be programmed in your ECU. There is a manual way around this, but you should check your manual and you will need the key's serial number.
