Stock 2008-2009 Navigation question

Sorry this is my third thread but its now a different question.

Well my wifes navi is broke so I just ordered a replacement stock one.

My question is, Im going to just quick swap out the navis when it comes in. What do I need to do then. Does it have to go to the dealer to be unlocked, even though the new navi is brand new never opened or is there something I can do at home to unlock it and use it right away.

Does anyone know whats going to happen the first time i start the car up after installing the new one as well.

Any and all help is very appreciated

tahnks
Jake

some functions will work right away such as radio but other functions that tie into other components of the car might not. i think theres a member on here with an evo x that said his worked right away and described which functions didnt work right away. Try loooking in the evo x how tos or something

I had mine replaced at Biondi. Don't ever take it there! When I first started up the car, it said I was driving through the East River in NYC. So I had to turn around and take it back in -- which was only a 20 minute job so it was a quick fix. I think there is a part that has to be swapped out. A receiver or "antenna" that is mounted on top of the unit maybe? Or maybe it actually needed to be unlocked and NYC was the default location before unlocking? They never told me what was wrong. Not sure if this helps, but it's all I know.

Good luck.

Its an easy swap. part for part. I've done it.

Did you want to sell the old broken one? If so how much?

I pm';d you

I was going to fix it then sell it. Ive already called mitsubishi electric and the parts are available. I just wouldnt do it right away. Its only a cracked screen. everything else works perfect. She is still listening to the radio and cd's as we speak, the new one comes in tomrrow.

Let me know if your interested. Id rather sell it before I fix it, that way i wont forget about it, which i probably will do if i wait till summer to order and replace the screen
