So it took me a while, but I finally got motivated to at least move my subs for the time being. Im still planning on doing a custom box soon behind the wheel wells, as well as I've now decided to go to a hardware store sometime this week to make a box for my amp. It will hang down on be screwed into the wood. THe wood will have a platform as well as wood on the sides of the amps that will have hooks on the top to hold the amp. It will hang down maybe a foot from the part where the rear speakers are in the car and will be hooked in a few different ways so it doesn't swing if it all works right. Of course Im going to paint it and what not to match the interior of the trunk and get something to hold the wiring up and out of the way. It may sound like a lot but I think over all its cheaper then buying fans and that sort of thing. Im also going to paint the trunk light cover at that time red to go with my red theme for the car. I was debating on hooking it up to the sub as well so it doesn't work when I open the trunk but with the beat of the subs for when I have it open or the seat down. WHat do you think?

This is what I have for now:

Is it bad to wire your amp somewhat upside down to your back seat without fans? I usually open my back seat while driving to get the full effect of the subs, but if I have people with me and cant, will the amp get too hot bolted down to the back seat?

Also, I just looked at my subs today again for some reason and both my subs are working after 1 hasn't worked all winter, have any of you guys had that problem? Why would that happen all the sudden it just works again without me re wiring anything? SO wierd.

the amp will be fine on the back seat folded up. there is enough air in there, its not like they will be packed in or under stuff lol

Did you guys drill into the back seat or something? I tried to mount it there and its metal like the floor when I bolted my subs to the floor but I bolted them to the wood in there. How did you guys go about bolting it to the seat?

use self-tapping screws on the metal

Okay, I'll try it out. At first I hated the idea of my amp on the back of my seat. But like most things after looking at a few I LOVE the look of it on the seat rather then on the floor in the trunk and now I have to copy everyone else like a lot of things I do with my car haha.

haha yeah the back seat is nice. also, its easy to take the subs out if you race since the amp isnt on the box. one of my friends had an old honda and apparently the trunk leaked and since his amps were on the floor, they got soaked when it rained! i know you dont have a crappy honda, but you never know lol

haha ****ty! A leaky trunk would be the worst, subs or not! Nothing would beat when it dries up and turns to mold and your car stinks too. Yea I just feel like that spot is good cuz as of right now I am too paranoid to put anything in my trunk with the thought of it rolling around on the amp and unhooking something.

well all you have to do is use a couple L backets from home depot (like $4) and screw them to the box then to the floor of the trunk. on my friends subaru, we screwed them to the top of his box, then slid the box under the metal horizontal crossmember that goes over his trunk (from side to side) and used self tapping screws to screw them into that. its never moved, and his amp is on the side of his box.

Oh no, I didnt mean the amp rolling around or the boxes haha I meant like if I put my gym bag back there or something, that rolling around and snagging a wire on the amp. I use those L brackets for my sub boxes and they screw right into the wood piece under perfect. The amp on the floor I just feel like something like a bag could roll on it and possibly smuggle it and make it hot or something. haha I dunno, Im wierd. But that is a very good idea, one of these days when I build the patience I want to make a custom enclosure on the sides to make it look cleaner and open up some room. The boxes are cool I guess but there are huge ice cubes and take up tons of room!

Well I must say senior yitzac, today I found the motivation to bolt down the amp to the back seat and bolt the subs with the brackets bolted just to the floor so I can pull the subs out without having to unscrew a bunch of ****. I must say Im much more psyched on the set up now. Now that the warm weather is coming here finally (to MN) Im gonna get my exhaust and intake and what not soon. Here is what I did today though! Tell me what you think, thanks again for the suggestion cuz now I like the set up a ton more and it looks a ton cleaner!

I went and got a ****ty knob (just temporary until I get a short shifter and a new know, I was getting sick of that old big clunky thing)

I also decided to take the badge from the rear and put it over the glove box (the glue was just drying, thats why its all over the dash dried up, Im gonna take some goo gone to it tonight after work)

Thats whats up so far, hope you like it!

So I ended up having some extra time so I cleaned it up now!

And I dunno if this is an issue in your lancer since its newer, but I sprayed down the plates that control the warm and cold switch. I know in the older lancers they stick a ton inbetween and I've heard of lots of peoples breaking. Sprayed it with WD40, switched back and forth about 10 times and it was good and smooth after that.

That plate by the pedals and the steering wheels.

So now Im done for the day haha, what kind of subs and amp do you have? After I do some cosmetic and engine work here in the next few weeks Im debating getting a new amp and subs. I just want something that hits harder because I made the mistake of getting a stereo amp rather than a mono amp, and I want some alpines for subs I think.

I was also going to ask does your trunk rattle a lot? And did you do anything to dampen the sound if it does? What did you do?

well i HAD kicker L7 12s and a hifonics 1600 watt brutus amp but i got rid of them for money for a turbo lol. how much wattage do you want to run? if you want, i can help piece together a system for ya. and yes my trunk rattled...i used fatmat sound deadening though to decrease it. look at my cardomain in the audio section, link in my sig.
