kenwood DNX5140 head unit?

kenwood DNX5140 head unit?
Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone has any experience with the Kenwood DNX5140? Here's a link of the product and specs.

It's retail is about $950 but I can get ahold of one for around 450.....I am wondering a few things....
1. Can it be unlocked to play DVDs while the car is moving?
2. Can it also act as a single-CD player ? silly question, but the site doesn't state it
3. Can I hook maybe a USB external hard drive to it, and have mp3s play? or really only way to get music from like an ipod?
also---does anyone like these? or have a BETTER recommendation for around $450 ?
