Stock CDPlayer on other cars??

Well,
I've this friend who has a 1999 Chevy Cavalier and the car doesn't have a cdplayer (only radio/tape player)
So I'm wondering if I could buy one of the stock cdplayers from any of the members here who changed their headunits for cheap and put that in his car.

I know the size is different (lancer- 1 din, cavalier-1.5din), but I think that can be easily fixed with some simple installation kits from autozeon or pepboys.
My concern is, will there be any problem eletronic-wise?

With my knowledge lacking mind, there shouldn't be. Why would they be able to mass produce throusands of headunits if you could only use them on one car? Pioneer would be spending more money designing different ones than they would be selling. That's what my logic says, but I'm not the brightest one in the forums.

cavaliar is 1.5 din, on all the metra(brand we use) you'll need to have a deck installed with the can(metal can sleeve) going into the kit,
in the Mitsu stock HU case, they're ISO mount(from the sides) which you can't really use a can, since a can is to lock the HU in place and there's not much way to secure the stock Mitsu HU into any can, this idea would be bad, it's do able, but I wouldn't recommended

have your friend go to cavaliar sites and get a stock HU with a CD player in it
