Quality question
Ok, so I have a pretty basic headunit. here http://www.google.com/products/catalog?oe=UTF-8&q=sony+xplod+head+units&hl=en&cid=13165962042519 39641&ei=aQ-DTJ66A6fu2ASvyYDMBg&sa=title&ved=0CCcQ8wIwAjgA&os= tech-specs
and a pretty old amp and 12'' subs i think the amp is a 650watt xplod and stock speakers
when I turn the volume above 35, the sound quality goes down the drain.
I think it's the stock speakers but I'm not sure if it's the amp or the fact that I'm using an AUX cable and not a usb?
any insight will help, thanks

Does the amp power the stock speakers as well? or is it just used for your subs?
If you are using the amp to power the speakers you might to check the gain on the amp it could be set way to high for the speakers.
Try upgrading your stock speakers to something newer would be the first step.

stock speakers suck with load aftermarket decks. i have a couple high end alpines and when i had to use stock speakers for a few days anything above like 15 on an alpine deck just sucked horribly.

yeah i just bought alpines today, they are pretty awesome, the stock speakers are 15 watt, and these are 240w so.... yeah, pretty nice. i still want to get a separate amp for my speakers too
