After scouring the interwebs for some information I have come up with a few how-tos on installing new subs and amps but none of them that would completely answer my questions. I have the Rockford Fosgate(RF) system from the S&S package, however my sub has apparently blown. Now, I can look for a stock sub to replace it but if I am going to spend the money I may as well get a better system put in.

That being said, I have read that aftermarket subs will not fit in the RF box without modification and that they won't even work with the RF Amp anyways. Is this true, has anyone experienced otherwise? If this is the case, I have read that I would have to install a separate, dedicated subwoofer amp. Considering I don't even know where the stock amp is, I have no idea how or where I would install a secondary amp for the subs. Anyhow, my questions are as follows:

Has anyone had any luck placing an aftermarket Sub in the RF enclosure, if so which make/model was it?

Can I install any aftermarket amp in addition to and without having to change the RF set up for the other speakers?

If this is possible, can anyone point me to a how-to showing me exactly how and where to install an additional amp for new subs?

If I cannot install a secondary amp and need to replace the primary, which amp(s) could I install without running the risk of blowing up the rest of my stock RF speakers?

Any information would be great. I have tried looking for answers for these questions but have only come up with how-tos that have left me with a massive headache. Thanks in advance!
