Subwoffer enclosure question??
Ok i read a long time ago a thread about someone making a fiberglass or whatever sub woofer enclosure that went over the wheel well's in the back for more space. Now im wondering if someone did that and if i could see any pics? I am also wondering if its really expensive and what is the best way to get subs in the back without losing a whole lot of space?
IMO you lose more space by putting a sub in the spare space because you gotta put your stuff around it when you pack your trunk. It's easier to drop something on it as well.
Edit: Are you talking about something like the picture above, or are you talking about a sub that would replace the spare tire?

yeah i was talking something like that. i was thinking of just getting a regular box. but if i do that i was wondering if i could move it when needed like maybe velcro it or something. but i have one more question. someone was telling me it sounds different if i had it over the wheel well like that and not like a normal box setup behind the seats??
i heard that if u have 2 subs facing each other like in the pic...it sounds bad because the waves have nothing to bouce off of, as opposed to facing the trunk or backseat....
like if u have them face the trunk u get more a of bump and if u have it face the backseat u get a more crisp sound, how the 'imaging' of the soundwaves go changes depending on what the waves are bouncing off of....but maybe its not true...i dunno

i wonder what would happen if you put the two subs facing eachother then wired them out of phase or reversed one, would they aplify each other (I would imagine from my physics classes in college that there would some sort of wave convergence and with them being out of phase they would amplify, where if they were wired in phase you would get wave cancellation). anyone know?
there ya go, 'wave ancellation' thats what i was thinking of, lol
i took physics in highschool and couldn't remember the term.
by 'out of phase' i would think the same thing would happen..just at a differnt point in time...or it would sound HORRIBLE, lol...
if u angled the subs like that towards the seat or trunk im sure it'd sound better.
as for me..im just gonna get 2 12" and have them face the backseat and fold my backseat down
