I have a 2008 Lancer 1.5L. The radio sucks. I want to replace it with my sony radio from my previous car. Will there be any technical hangups,ie is there anything vital hardwired into the radio, like alarm, climate control etc, or can I just rip it out, and plug in my new/old sony radio?

 

You previous car is also 2008 Lancer 1.5L? you should make sure whether the sony radio fits the 2008 Lance.and then do the replacement.

 

No. Before I had a simple toyota, with next to no electronics. The radio is DIN, so I need to get a conversion kit. So it will fit, but the wires will probably need reconnecting. All I want to know is if there is anything of the car connected to the radio? Is there something like the alarm, imobiliser, ecu, or so hardwired into it?

 

There are already posts on this forum about how to. I just need an answer about can, or should you do it.
