Question Mp3 Hookup?

Is there a way to hook up an mp3 player (main output a headphone jack) to my car's audio system. I still have the stock radio and all, so there's no tape deck. I curently use a small frequency transmitter but I hate the quality it gives me.
Am i better off just listening to my cd's as usual or is this at all possible?
Any help is much apreciated.

on the back of my aftermarket HU - there is 2 pre-amp outs and then the thing that all the wires plug into. Nothing else.

so i dont think i have an AUX on my HU.

When using the transmitter I didn't like the quality even when I had it resting in the back window.

I assume that there aren't any aftermarket HU with the aux inputs on the front face (ugly), because that would solve all my problems. I guess with an aftermarket HU with aux inputs in the back i could run the wire down into that little space under my radio where I keep change. Is there a better way? I have an good amout of tunes not on cd but only on my mp3 player so I really want to do this.

you will never get good sound quality. My best advice to just get a H/U that plays MP3s directly. Its much less of a hassle. And the sound quality is far better.

I listen to my iPod in my car everyday! I bought a BOSS FM Modulator on ebay for $30 shipped. It plugs directly into your antenna, so you get a much better connection than using a transmitter. It has a switch, to enable either the radio, or the mp3 player.

I think the quality is great! It's nothing for audiophiles, or those of you who spent a lot of money for a nice system, but it definitely works!

my question is simply is there a store such as Circuit city or something that i can run too tomorrow and get something that will let me plug my mp3 player in to my stock head unit?

I consider myself semi-competent in audio wiring but i want to know what I'm up against before i crack it open.

I think the FM modulator is the frequency transmitter. I hope I'm right because if I'm not I'm never going to post in Lancer Audio threads again. I recommend going to Circuit City and Best Buy and talking to the sales reps. Circuit City employees don't make commission anymore so they should give you their honest opinion. Do some research on the head units.

you can either buy a head unit that plays mp3's or you can buy a fm modulator (just like the have for multi disk players) that will allow your mp3 player to interface to your factory radio. the fm modulator will run 35-50 bux and around 20 or so to have it put in.
