hey,
the more ways a speaker fires doesn't necessarily make them better. so a 4 or 5-way speaker won't necessarily be better than a 2-way. i've heard pioneer 5-ways and 3-ways and they're not bad. i heard them off of a pioneer head unit, and the highs were pretty nice. but, in any case, i would (and probably so would everybody else here) recommend an amp to power them. you'll get a cleaner sound and put them at less risk to blow. anyways, i'd say try them out off the head unit, if you're not satisfied... amp 'em!

hey LanceDogg, thanks for the reply. I'll for sure check it out. I'm actually lookin' for a Pioneer deck too..might as well stay with the same brand..haha..but yeh, for sure, I know most HU's have 50W x 4.. we'll see...i like the bass myself, but dont like it enough to put a sub in..lol..thanks anways..i'll keep you guys psoted!
i have those speakers, and i like them enough. i honestly hate the speaker positions in the lancer though, so if you can, up grade to components in the front and put the tweeters higher than where your legs can block the highs. www.hypaudio.com has the 4 ways pretty cheap if you decide to go with those. they are an easy factory swap install.
hey citrus... most head units say either 45 x 4 or 50 x 4. that's actually maximum output/power. continuous power is closer to about 18-22 watts. quite underpowering, considering most speakers have an RMS of 30-50 watts. but, like i said before, it'll sound pretty good off the HU. and, just like purecoda said, components are THE BEST way to go. instead of having the tweeters firing at your legs with a pair of regular 2-way (or 4-way in your case) speakers, you can position the tweeter wherever you want.
