Your 100% correct the head units are not any different , but the mobile video units are and they do require a different set up. Those 2 links I posted have the info. Ignore it if you choose thats on you.

What ever dude keep passing BULLS*IT info I dont care I was trying to keep the kid from blowing cash!

First of all, Alpine warranties absolutely everything...take it back and say it wouldn't power up and they will warranty it 100%..

I'm not ****ing stupid either, *******...I've installed Car Audio for years...

BTW, it will NOT fry the circuits...Alpine would be stupid to do it that way because they would get too many back on warranty - it will just not work.

So YOU, badevo, know what the **** you're talking about before you post.

Idiot.

I don't know if you were talking to me, but I wasn't passing any bullsh*t. I already said that I hadn't installed an alpine in dash screen, so it could be different, just saying in general, you ground the ebrake line to get video signal all the time. Oh and those lines aren't power input lines so he's not going to damage the unit in any way you dipsh*t.

theoretically he could, but he wouldn't..as I said, Alpine would be stupid to do it that way.

Yes you're right, again in theory sending voltage up a grounded path could be bad, but typically with modern day electronics, grounded paths do not lead to internal components, ther're a chassis ground. And again, that line really isn't even a ground anyway, but electronics designers take into consideration dumb f*cks installing their product and if power and ground get reversed it won't destroy the unit. There are many forms of circuit protectors to prevent just that.

Yeah...ask yourself why they make amps with reverse hookup protection - so the user can accidentally hook it up wrong? No. To sell more amps? Not intentionally. To reduce repair costs? Definately.

Hey we (Evo Owners) are not all asses! I have had some experience with install shops and most of them will do the majority of the hook-up for you and then leave like one wire for you to finish, so they can legally say that you finished the install and they have no link to runing your DVD while driving. You just got to be honest with them and tell them up front and alot of them will be ok with that, though some will tell you to take a hike though.

You guys can take it as being an A$$hole or what ever I just dont want to see this kid get his equipment fried. But he do what you may. I have 3 in dash alpine units at the PT job that were all denied warranty claims from ALPINE for "attempted tampering" with the brake safety circuit. IE Incorrect install of it. 7 years of car stereo at an Alpine authorized dealer But hey I'm just an a$$ so what would I know.
