hi i was thinking about gettin audiobahn a1206q's but i am not hearing good things about audiobahn. i currentl have 2 AW1251q's i am semi-satisfied with them but i was wondering if antbody knew of any that are better. like JBL,JL, Infinity. no sony or other cheap stuff-lanzar, blaupunk and stuff like that also the audiobahns have 1,100 watts RMS i have never seen a amp like that other than the jl W7 how could this be a bad sub.

 

Your post look a little confusing but i will try to decifer.I am not sure if you are saying that you havent seen an amp that is 1100 watts rms or subs that are 1100 rms.. but either way boith are very wrong... Thier are many amps out thier now that will easily do 1100 watts...ex....Planet Audio 2100d,Ample Audio 1500(linkable), D2 Shredder 2000watts,Digital Design(not sure exactly),RockfordFosgate BD 1500,JBL 1200 D, and tons more but I cant think of them all off my head, and I am not on my computer to get my list. For subs a few ex's are Digital Designs, Shocker Audio, MTX RFL, Onyx Audio,MA Audio(heard the new stuff is nice), Orion,Power Acoustic(****...Heard a 149 with one 12 in a Monte Carlo in A Trunk), and i am sure thier are others but like i said just not coming to the top of my head....Just for an example, not sayin this is true all around, but around my place thier is a guy with a astro van, with a 16.5 volt electrical system, a wall up with no seats with 2 audiobahn 15 inch woofers. In the back are 10 Audiobahn 1500's, this guy worked with audiobahn for two months designin this setup and they said the subs would easily take the power....competition day the guy burps a 153-4, and blows both subs and half the amps....Now another guy has two Rockford Rosgates......only 4 BD 1400's and 2 15's in an S 10 in a truck burps a 162....with only a 14.4 volt system...now the guy with the van has about 5000 more into his car and is hittin 8 db's lower and in SPL that is hard to gain 8 db's....just an example...take it for what you want, like everyone says, to each thier own.....

 

I was always a fan of Image Dynamics, and Kove products. Both are loud with good SQ.
Did a 146.8 with 1 12" Kove Armageddon (Older style, 1st Gen sub, newer ones are even more badass) in the back of my old blazer, only pushing about 650 watts.

 

my buddy has a W7 with a JL 500X1 amp (this sub can handel a lot more) and he hit a 142.9.......he needs a bigger amp needless to say......JL ROCKS!!

dont get me wrong JLs are nice but most magazines and people are saying that the W7 is pointed towards sound quality....so if you want somethin clear no doubt get the W7

 

i know im a newbie but i hang out at a car stereo shop in my area alot.depends on what kind of sound you want ?????this can change the style, size or brand of sub and box you want. do you want tight clean bass or spl or alittle of both???????? there are so many really good speaker and amps out there.plus what i think is bad butt kickin may not be the same.audiobahn is good for the price but there are better. jl is ok but i know they are easy to blow(shop sells jl)they just dont seem to take pushing them.shop around a little.whats your budget????love to help if i can

 

I have the jl W7 and it sounds great I have the digital alpine amp it. I did have alpine R types. They sounded great but my mtx could not even move the subs. I sold the subs and got the w7.

 

do you know how much space you want to give up????? what about weight does that matter to you???dont use anything but mdf for your box killer stuff for better sound spl and sql

 

Like dsm says, mdf is nice stuff....may even wanna try MDF lite....quarter of the weight and same hardness.....nice stuff thats what i us....keep the car as light as you can

 

ok first i was talkin about subs(read the tittle) second i was askin who makes a good sub i have 2 12inch audiobahn AW1251Q's they are ok. i want something that with make you loose your breah you know something that is real deep. P.S. Yeah a W7 is good if you have a grand to blow on 1 sub

 

thier is no reason to have a lil attitude, everyone was just tryin to help ya....you werent too specific on your post....look into gettin some Digital Designs....or Shocker Audios...they will make you loose your breath....Audiobahns make ya loose your breath cuz the voice coils always burn up and you cant breath in ur vehicle

whats more important RMS watts or Peak watts also alpine type-R's look good. Opinions?

 

how can the JL W6v2 knock if it only has 400watts RMS?
