spending more on a system than what your car is worth.... It is posible but you are going to have to get a dvd player with a vidio output besides just the screen thats on it then your going to have to take that signal and split it up between all the other screens... there are adapters etc that allow you to do this... wireing will be a pain in the but to get everything to look right and get screens where they are normally put (not sure if you are doing this yourself or having it done).

How much do you know about car audio exactly? Hooking up multiple screens to one source isn't any different in a car than anywhere else - lots of splitters and hopefully good ones with quality wiring to protect from signal degradation. It's certainly possible. As for power source, wouldn't you just use your battery, in the car already? These questions make it sound like you don't know what you're doing or that you're looking for the answer to a different question in a roundabout way.

Sorry if I made you feel bad... Answers are different though depending on experience level... and ultimately, if you're inexperienced with it, then you've got to learn a little about wiring - both power and signal wiring. Also, best suggestion I can come up with is find a friend who's got some experience and get help.

As for killing your battery, I doubt it. Screens aren't too high of a current draw, certainly not more than the larger subwoofer setups people here have. And when the car is on, the battery isn't really supplying the power - the alternator is. The battery essentially works when the car is off and the alternator keeps it's stored energy topped up. Anyway, your sound system is more likely to require an upgraded power system than the video system, and that's still only if you're going crazy with wattage.

To identify if you'll need a stronger system, you'll ultimately have to see if it's a problem and respond, if it is. Get a strong alternator if there's just not enough power and get a bigger battery if you intend to run the system with the car off for longer periods of time.

My final suggestion is to start with a sound system. Especially if you can't find help from a friend, buy something from Crutchfield because they'll give you all the instructions/diagrams/hardware you could possibly need to install whatever you buy and they'll give you excellent phone support for anything you can't follow... And if you break things while installing, they are very easy-going about replacing it, free of charge. They aren't the cheapest around, but they are the best when it comes to customer service and they aren't that expensive that it should be a deterrent. Best part is, you'll learn a ton about car electronics just doing this and you'll be much better prepared for the video system you're planning.

wow thanx for the suggestions........ a system first is a good idea..... If i have a high usage of power system, and all those screens, would i need a better alternator or just another batery? Or maybe both?

That's not an easily answered question. And the answer is allmost certainly, "It depends." You've got to look at the current draws of everything together and seee if it will exceed what the alternator can sustain. If it's close, you can get a cap which will at least keep everything stable for the instants where a bass hit or other such high-energy moment temporarily drains the power system (ie, dimming lights). But if you're exceeding the amount of current that the alternator can sustain, you'll need a bigger one.

Again, it really depends on what your plans are, sound-wise especially. LCDs aren't a high-power item. Amps are and especially subwoofer amps because low-frequency sound is the hardest to amplify. That said, I think if your total sound setup uses less than 600W of amplification, you can probably get away without a cap and might see some dimming lights at high volumes. If you go higher than that (and even maybe if you're a little less), a cap may be all you need to supplement your power system. And since my system is relatively small compared to most here, I can't tell you at what point a new alternator is necessary, but hopefully someone here can shed some light.

Ideally, I'd say you should start off with sound. Build what you want, regardless of power requirements. It's easy to add a cap, if necessary, and unless you're going really loud, you won't likely need a new alternator. After that, you can start adding your video system and just keep adding until evidence of a power need develops. Not to mention, the sound system installation is going to be very, very helpful in learning how to do stuff before you get to the video stuff.

Oh yeah, and all those video screens are going to make you a theft target - I'd invest in a security system first.
