Running leaner since bored Intake Manifold

I defenetly think I need to put my stuff together and retune the Piggy. I've got not Wideband numbers to share, but a narrow band light show on my steering wheel. Before the intake manifold I would run 2nd, 3rd and 4th bars on the rich side(at WOT). Now with the Bored Intake Manifold I see last Stoich Bar and 1st rich bar(at WOT).

The bars I'm talking about are the bars on my narrowband A/F Ratio. I know it's not the most accurate reading, but I still know I'm running leaner no matter what

Well... Since it's no wideband I'm worried I'm not at the optimal A/F ratio.

What is the optimal A/F?
Either way it's going to be hard to determine the optimal A/F with just a narrowband.
If you MAF is working fine and you didn't make any adjustments to the MAP settings don't worry about it. Before you do anything else get a wideband and then have some fun.

12.7:1 is optimal from what I read some time ago.

I don't think that's always true. Boe always told me to aim at 13.1 or even leaner if i'm not knocking.

EDIT - disregard this and see below conversation. Had the #s confused.

12.7:1 will blow you the **** up. It's optimal, but not for your car's lifespan.

Last I heard, you at least want to stay above 13.5:1.

Then 12.7 would be best for Forced Induction?

why worry about it? there is no knock AND our lancers run pig rich from the factory. leaning it out a little bit only helps in my opinion so long as there is no knock

Whenever I find the ***** to hookup the R4 I'll get you guys a log of what's going on. Maybe I am indeed worried for no valid reason.

I think you have mixed up the numbers Blacksheepdj. Either you are talking about compression ratio or AF ratio. I'm not sure.
But 12.7 is pretty rich. 13.5 is leaner. If anything 12.7 would be safer than 13.5
If I am wrong, please correct me.

I think 13.5:1 is a little lean for WOT in my opinion. dj are you sure about that? i would be scared to run leaner then 13:1... I would think 12.7:1 is perfectly fine.

I know for FI you want to stay in the mid 11's..

Greg - yes, my bad. I was thinking about it backwards.

12.5:1 = good.
13.5:1 = bad

Yeah, I remember that Buschur mentioned in conversation that he'd never really tune leaner than 12.5:1.

that was my worry about 2 weeks ago. at WOT i was leaning out to 13.7:1 and 14:1.....yeah scarey. i tossed some injector cleaner in there and it solved my problems...luckily i survived and caught it the first time and lightened up on my foot before i started to knock.

I wouldn't think that boring the intake manifold would change the AFR that much. A wideband is a killer investment even though everyone else told ya already! Good luck with it.
