yes... another piggyback v.2 thread (auto vs stick)

I know there are about 8000 post about this piggy back. Here's my deal:

I just bought this thing off of another member. The member I bought it off of, bought it off of yet another member. This piggy was originally flashed with the new software for an 04 auto. I called RRM to just now to order something and asked about the reflash. They told me it would cost $75 and that it needed a manual map.

It's probably stupid to think RRM would give me falso information but I could have sworn there was only one map (auto vs manual) for the V.2 piggyback. Could somebody confirm that what they told me is correct and I'm just losing my mind and everything will be ok? If not, would i be better off getting the software and reflashing myself or sending it in. None of my computers have serial ports either.

I tried searching but the huge piggy thread is full of great info as well as useless garbage.

The flame suit is on and I'm ready.

hmm I wish I could help you out with this but I still have a Version 1.
Yes the software would definitely come in handy, so I suggest you get your hands on that not matter what.

I belive the software is the same just the way you hook-it-up to the car is what changes. There was a flaw with the flash and there was an update to help fix everyones problems.

(expect a PM from a board member, and your problems will be resolved)

edit: How doesn't your computer have a serial port? From what I remembe they all do... if you can get yourself DB9 cable w/ a USB adapter.

I just got my piggy off another member here on evom.net and called RRM about the reflash and instructions, I was going to buy the software and do it myself but RRM said that loading it with the software is different from having it flashed, if you send it in with return postage RRM will reflash it for FREE, I sent mine in and requested instructions and sent a check for $20 for the return postage and just because I appreciate that they would reflash it for me. ROCK from RRM also said here on the forum that they would reflash them for free. I just sent mine in about 2 weeks ago and just got it back last Friday.

I asked about that and was told it would cost me $75 plus shipping, I don't really want to make any demands of RRM because I bought the piggy used. I did however just order the software from them. Maybe I can get the correct map/settings and load it myself.

Also does anybody have a scan of the installation instructions for a manual?

they prob wont do the upgrade for free since you didnt pay RRM for the unit. And yes there are two different flashes for auto vs. stick, have them d it if you want the thing to work right for you.

OK, it is confirmed that I need the reflash for my specific year and transmission. I've seen a lot of these used for sale so I'm sure there are other people out there wondering the same thing.
