Piggyback V2

Hey, just had a couple questions from guys with first hand experience. (I know there are a ton of threads about the piggyback but none have my answer).

#1. When you install the piggyback with the base tune, is that a big difference, or do you have to specifically tune it to your vehicle for the big difference people talk about it. Also, what is the difference in base tune, and say tuning on 93 octane gas. Can you squeeze quite a bit more power out of it?

#2. Do you have to plug into a laptop to change maps? Say from 89 octane map to a 93 octane map?

#3. Anybody made a map with racegas? 115 octane+... Any reports of power vs. 89 map?

#4. (probably been answered before but I am looking for opinions still). After I get the piggyback and tune it for my intake/exhaust what is there left for me to do to my N/A car!?!? I realize turbo/nitrous ect. would be awesome but I am saving that for my next car. I just want a halfway decent N/A. My mods are in my sig but after the piggyback what REALLY helps? Cams? Ported IM and TB? Headers? I know most of those don't do a whole lot of good by themselves but with the piggy and the other mods, do they start actually making noticable differences?

Thank you all for your help, please don't flame.

I have no personal experience with this other than I read almost everything on these boards and I helped N1te install his way back when. But because I am bored and waiting for my girlfriend to get off work...

1. All accounts say that the RRM provided base map is good for about 10-15% gain. Your mods will affect the gain, and with the right know how and equipment you can tune the car yourself for better gains with your specific car. Remember each car is different... one size map does not fit all but RRMs base map is good.
2. To data log or change maps you must connect to a laptop.
3. I don't know if anyone has used high octane race gas in conjunction with a split second box. If you happened to be that far along in your mods then perhaps a AEM stand alone EMS would be better suited to your needs. The splitsecond box does not control timing or do anything but adjust the Fuel/Air ratio. But from looking at your mods list I think the PB is fine for you..
4. You have to be the one that defines what a "decent NA" car is. For me a decent NA car is about what I found in the base Lancer... that's why I'm modding. I want a "fun car with pep when I lay down the accelerator that looks clean inside and out with about 215whp-250whp." What you should do is some more homework about cars in general and learn to utilize the search function on the boards. There is over four years of dialog concerning the topics you asked about. More agressive cams, larger pistons, forged rods, aftermarket clutch, big brake kits... the sky is the limit and all of it has been covered. If you want your car to be at a certian HP and have a specific driving characteristic then you need a unique plan of action.

So you need to answer these questions:
1. How much time and money are you willing to spend?
2. What do you want your car to do? (ie. 11 second 1/4, good handling, agressive looks etc)
3. Thank me for the time I have taken from cleaning my apartment to answer your questions.
