Anyone else with this exhaust get the staining alright on the inside of the tip? It's only been on about a week for me and already have a dark spot on the inside of the tip.

Have used the Ultra-Copper gasket material. Improved the sound quite a bit, but still, at 2900 RPM and higher (90 kph cruising in 5th) and accelerating to 120 kph as required, the sound is just too much for me. Will be dismantling the exhaust this weekend, after only 3 days (250 kms) of driving the car with it installed. Too bad, as I love the sound at low RPMs. Will be replacing this exhaust with RA stock as soon as I find one used one (or new).

Greddy SP Elite Will be up for sale on October 10th specificaly for Ontario guys (no shipping).

Too short of a time for me to say if there was any staining happening.

This is interesting. I emailed GReddy and they replied saying that the system only produced ~87 dB, and I know it was in the high 90s on my car. Far from acceptable.
I've had plenty of open exhaust setups in past cars and loud aftermarket and custom arrangements - this was one of the loudest.
I wonder if they have a quality control issue considering most find the SE/SP to be one of the quietest...
I should have borrowed the sound level meter from work while I still had the exhaust and recorded a video.

Check all the hangers/bushings to make sure you have them on right. Also the one you bolt to the rear suspension cross member (the one nearest the flange), put the bolt through the lower hole, not the higher one. It'll help angle the muffler and tip upward and bring it closer to the bumper.

Do you remember what size bolt you used? I have yet to put that hangar on. Also, did you re use the spring bolts at the flange? I heard some people replacing them getting rid of the spring.

It's the same bolt that is used to bolt up the rubber hanger to the left (driver side) side of the stock mufler canister. I can measure it up on Saturday when I will be replacing SE with stock.

Damn ok. I'll have to see if I have that bolt still laying around. Any reason you taking the exhaust off?

The SE was too loud? Good thing you didnt get the Ti-C then.

But I do know that the 5 speed manual revs pretty damn high. As a CVT owner my revs never go above 2600rpm. If I beat on it it generates a bit of sound.

Why would you spend money on an exhaust if you don't want to hear it? It's not like the gains are worthwhile.

10Lancer: I believe 21. It's the bolt that goes into the muffler's hanger. You use that same hanger (the one with the steel bushing) to bolt to the cross member.

I'm sure we're as surprised as you that this exhaust was too loud for us. No one would buy one of these exhausts expecting them to be silent. I STILL want more noise than I get from the stock muffler. The amount and quality was unacceptable from the axle back I received. That doesn't mean everyone had the same problem. Most people love these exhausts because they are quieter than the Ti-C and others. However, I question if the exhausts I, and Oksamit received weren't defective, if there's something different about our cars etc etc.
I've been building and modifying my cars for as long as I've been driving. Every single one of them has had a modified exhaust. Some cars take a lot of experimentation to get the right balance of sound and power. This exhaust didn't work for me on this car. For those who love theirs, awesome, I'm jealous.

Side note: The email GReddy sent me claimed they got 7 whp from the axle back.

I just wasn't sure if it was in fact #21 or #15. Cause at least it looks like to me they both have the steel bushing. Anyone know if they would carry the bolt at the dealer? Otherwise I'll just order both. Cheap enough

You'll have that bolt free when you remove the stock exhaust. You're just relocating it and the rubber hanger from the muffler to the cross member.
