03 Lancer ES Upgrades

I just turned 16 and I bought a Lancer ES because it was really all I could afford at the time. I've always wanted a lancer so I started out with an automatic (because my mom made me haha). I really want to add to the performance and I was looking at getting a K&N Typhoon intake for it. What else could I possibly get to get the best bang for my buck?

This guys 16. I doubt he's getting a turbo. Thanks for keeping it honest with him, but its probably best not to gas him up.

he could always start piecing it together for now. Maybe we have a young one to keep the lancers going.

If you are looking for power you are not gonna get much by keeping it NA from previous experiences. But it would be the usual, intake, headers, exhaust. Then you can either tune it yourself and learn or have someone tune it for you to squeeze a little bit of extra power out of it. When I mean squeeze I mean not alot of power.

Unfortunately there's not much you can do power-wise on the n/a lancers without going turbo. The engien doesn't respond very well to just little bolt-ons.

My .02$... keep the car as it now. Save up and eventually decide if you want to go turbo. Or move up to an evo like I did

as far as the LANCER ES goes, i've worked on three. an '03, an '05, and an '07. the best thing you can do (on a low budget) is get an SRI, a cat-back exhaust, and some aftermarket rims & tires of your choice. maybe a full bodykit & paintjob if you really want your car to look awesome. i had great results with just these modifications.
