Need some help with EcuFlash

Hello,

Just recently bought a tactrix openport 2.0 cable. I tried reading my ECU from the car (2010 lancer es cvt) but it comes back saying "unknown rom id"

Am i not doing something? do i need files first? if so where can i find them. I looked at evoscan xml files and things like that but I dont want to brick my ECU so if anyone can provide me with some help/insight it would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks guys!

Are you getting this error when you try to read or when you try to open and view the ROM?

Getting this error when trying to open and view the ROM is quite common, you are just missing the XML definition file. You just need to find out your ROM ID, find the corresponding XML definition and put it in your ROMMETADATA folder.

If you are getting the error while you try to read, I have not encountered that before and can't help you with that one sorry.

Thanks for the clear up. I am getting the unknown rom id when i am trying to read it. For some reason it can't read the ROM and give the the rom id. It says it can only save what it has as a read only, no edit.

I need to keep researching on here because I feel like this should be an easy fix but i appreciate the knowledge. If this is common I will be able to figure it out

Thanks man!

Hello,

I'm trying to download the Rom off of my Lancer using EcuFlash. It seems to work but in the process it cycles through a bunch of errors on the screen whereas my friend's Mazda 3 does nothing. Then when I'm done all is good but it leaves behind the Service Engine Soon light, and I don't have a way of checking if the Rom download was successful. I had to have advance auto parts clear the SES light. My question is is any of this normal?
