Reflashing an ECU on a GTS

Hey I have a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS and im just curious has anyone reflashed their ECU or can it even be done? Just curious what is cost and what you get out of doing it? If its worth it may end up doing it at some point but just want to know what all it does. Thanks!!!!

Works motorsports offers a flash for base model lancers. Its 299 if you ship it to them or 478 if you get it emailed to you and to buy the tactrix openport cable.

rrm offers a piggyback ecu for 439.

Works claims to have better gains. But I dont know. I just ordered the works flash yesterday. With the works flash they can modify the software to better fit with your current mods. Thats why I went with them.

Merlin and myself can do it as well for 250usd. You need a Tactrix cable and ecuflash. Pm for details.

Whats the difference in the Piggyback v.s. flashing the ECU? Any idea? Im not sure exactly what flashing the ECU does but I know more power from my car would be nice lol!!! The only mods I have done to the car is wheels and cat back HKS Exhaust. So nothing fancy. I don't know if its worth putting a lot into the motor of the GTS when its not AWD and what not. Im thinking this will just be a looks car. At least until I can save up for a Evo lol.

A piggyback alters the signal to trick the ECU, the issue is this generation of ECU is too smart and will notice the difference. The ECU will make adjustments to hit is programmed targets. Basically the performance you gained you will eventually loose and have to keep resetting the ECU in order to maintain the gains it's a crazy cycle. plus with out a plug and play harness you are hacking into the stock wiring harness. I have used piggybacks on my 05 Ralliart and so far all were a disaster, that is just my
Personal,opinion

A ECU re-map/flash/chip/tune you are actually changing/recalculating the data to change timing and fuel delivery and other operating perimeters, no signals are being "tricked" so there is nothing to "confuse" resulting in the performance to be permanent. Also there is no secondary wiring that needs to be spliced and soldered.

To tune the ECU a Tactrix cable, ecuflash and a definition is required. Tactrix and ecuflash is the same company. The definition (this is maps you need to tune) you can get from a few sources we happen to be one of them. If you get a free definition that's great it will keep the cost of tuning down but please make sure all the data is correct and comes from a reliable source. If a you get a bad definition with corrupt data you can lock/brick your ECU. I know the definitions we provide are verified and tested, I am not saying we are the only ones that do good work there are a few, just be careful.

If anyone wants to join our Facebook page and see what others are saying from a first hand/tuned perspective shoot me a pm and I will get you the link.

I probably should mention when you are tuned by us we leave you with the XML and you can make any future adjustments yourself.
