HELP! New Smog Laws = no intakes legal?
ALright - so i jsut bought a dark force intake offline.....called up the dealer to see if it would void my warranty. he said yes because a new law was passed in the last 30 days that PROHIBITS ALL after market intakes on cars in california (at least cali...he didnt know about other states). He did mention that there was a special number that made it legal called a ARB number.
here is a website that covers it.

thats what i will end up doing if im interpreting this right...but technically this means a cop can bust me driving down the road if he pops my hood. did i read everything right that there is no intakes allowed anymore?
you need a carb cert for the intake to be legal...its always been that way in cali!...30 days ago?...AEMis carb legal, and a KNN drop in is legal also, mayne KNN typhoon instke is also legal

Your dealer is either lying to you or doesn't know what they're talking about. Cali SUCKS for modded cars.
All parts have ALWAYS needed to be certified for smog in california, it's been that way for a lot longer than 30 days.
Hell, dealers can't even sell a new car unless it's been setup for Cali emissions standards. Some models ship with 5hp less to dealers in cali when they have to meet cali laws.
