HELP! New Smog Laws = no intakes legal?

ALright - so i jsut bought a dark force intake offline.....called up the dealer to see if it would void my warranty. he said yes because a new law was passed in the last 30 days that PROHIBITS ALL after market intakes on cars in california (at least cali...he didnt know about other states). He did mention that there was a special number that made it legal called a ARB number.

here is a website that covers it.
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php

it sounds like there may be no more legal aftermarket intakes! HELP ME! i wana put this thing on my car!

dark force most likely wont be...sorry to break it to you but most of the small companies dont have the time or resources to go through carb testing

its in Amador county. borders Sac, just a little south east. but yeah, we dont have any smog laws here. only time youd have to smog is when buying or selling a vehicle.

i wonder how that works....i thought emissions were buy state..and u had to smog your car every 2 years......and either way....the intake just doesnt make it pass emissions....so that would still void the warranty...o well......thanks

Your dealer is either lying to you or doesn't know what they're talking about. Cali SUCKS for modded cars.

All parts have ALWAYS needed to be certified for smog in california, it's been that way for a lot longer than 30 days.

Hell, dealers can't even sell a new car unless it's been setup for Cali emissions standards. Some models ship with 5hp less to dealers in cali when they have to meet cali laws.
