Yet another exhaust thread - but personalized!
OK, here we go again, I know. But this question is just for me.
Once I get some free time to install, I'll have upgraded:
header
downpipe
high flow cat
axleback
Do I really need to upgrade the axleback to a catback? Or will the gains be essentially neglible? Obviously, the more freeflow the better, but would replacing the midpipe have a major effect or no?

The major effect will be in sound, but that highflow should keep the exhaust sounding ok. If you find your exhaust sounding too raspy, I'd suggest getting the midpiping done to match the exhaust size you're going with.
It won't make much difference unless you are going turbo. Right now I have an RRM header along with RRM Stage 1 kit, plus a 2.25" RMR axle back. I plan on getting a test pipe as well. I'm still up in the air about weather to go 2.25" or 2.5" with the test pipe and mid-pipe (from cat to axle-back). If you plan on staying NA, you can stick with your stock mid-pipe. If you plan on going turbo in the future, go ahead and replace it, if not, you can leave it.
