On a 03 oz rally i am replacing the cat converter with a rrm delete pipi. my question is the exhaust part past the cat that looks like a mini muffler is that any significance because i was going to replace it with a straight pipe to help with the exhaust flow.

 

If you lie on the ground next to your car with your head right behind the front wheel.. the cat that the RRM test pipe replaces is the one even with your head in the middle of the car. It is about 16in long or so, not sure cause I didn't measure it. Also you can't mistake it because it has an o2 sensor attached to it. I just replaced mine with the RRM testpipe.

 

I think the one you're talking about is the resonator. It helps keep your exhaust quieter

 

Yeah, I think it's a resonator. Replacing it with a straight pipe may make a little more power, but it will be louder most likely.

yeah i guess it is the resonator. that was the part i was talking about.I figure replace it with 2.5 inch pipe while i am down there. I assume it will be louder but in San Antonio they dont care.
