Probably not. They probably rehashed it when they put the new pistons in and your bro misunderstood what they were saying.

And for the record, since people are still not understandling, RRM DOES NOT MAKE PISTONS AND RODS, they buy them from a supplier and resell them.

RRM's original pistons were made by JE. Maybe they've since switched to Ross. I don't know.

Crower has rod specs for us, and I have specs for both parts that came with the items.

For comparative purposes- Stock 4g94 connecting rods on the left, Crower H-beams on the right:

Straight from Crower. They have the specs on file. About $725 shipped. Takes 6 weeks. It's not a shelf item for them. For all I know that could all have changed...that was well over a year ago.

Last time I checked, Pauter rods were 699 shipped to me here and the Wiseco pistons were like 399.
