I think it's worthwhile. Lancers have good value stock, and a turbo is a cheap and easy way to make it much faster than cars that are more expensive, even including the cost of your turbo. The base model lancers are not a bad place to start, if you know what you're doing and have your goals set.

Good luck with your turbo, I'm sure it will all turn out and you will wind up with a smile on your face for sure.

 

Don't forget that omar I believed started out with an RRM nonIC and Hobie has an RPW kit with a custom manifold (I think). I'm just saying that if someone has done all the work on their car then they have something to be proud of, even if they bought the kit from a big company. Or are you saying you have to make everything from scratch to be proud of it. For example the only way you can be proud of your exhaust is if you made the muffler, bent the piping, and welded on the flanges yourself. I don't know I think that everything is relative.

i say respect every car somebody cares about.

if i see a kid in a cleaned up cavi or a rice burner i still give respect cause its what they have or choose to have and customize, u wouldnt like it if they busted on you so dont bust on them.

back on topic: i say turbo it, if you know what your doing the car will still last really long, you'll get mad respect from the locals, you'll be satisfied you can now ROAST a honda civic, and for the money it cant be compared to the evo insurance wise.

also as much as i hate to say it, my '00 si coupe with a greddy kit @ 7psi will put down 240whp, but only like 170wtq, so u decide which is better, do u want top end power in a lighter car, ie:civic si, or do you want a daily drivable car with more torque than hp, imho, i would rather turbo the lancer, as i have tried to and if i didnt have a bad engine i wouldve had a fully custom ic'ed turbo kit for my lancer for about 1350 bucks, and i woulda been puttin down more torque than my si and about 40 less horses.

back on topic again:
if you need info on custom kits, you found the right forum, but due to what appears to be little knowledge of turboing the lancer, i suggest you either read up, or buy a premade kit, ie rpw, rrm, cnfx, or tsi.

 

By the time I'm done turboing my 05 Lancer I plan on 350 horsepower minimal. If anyone knows of any shops in Illinois that will do custom turbo installs, please IM me about it. By the time I'm done I will have only spent around $19,000-$20,000, which isn't bad when I will be kickin' a$$ with an automatic over a manual.

It's possible I've seen with the most upgraded turbo and engine modifications, it can be done.

How much horsepower does the RRM drag lancer have? Thats the kind of work you're looking at, and it won't come cheap at all. Good luck though, always nice to see someone eager on here.

I think the RRM lancer is a little higher than that.

Wouldn't you think the road/race lancer sets the standard of how much power can be forced out of the 4g94? It's a "drag car" that runs on race gas pulling just over 300 hp at the wheels and VERY heavily modded. 350hp will be very expensive! good luck!
