Intake air cooler?

I was browsing the web and found a product that claims to reduce air tmp. inside the intake:

http://www.performancepartz.com/univ...t-p-23112.html

Also, I had a q about my car's performance. I bought it used. The bolts that were supposed to be there to mount a strut tower bar were gone, so I assume the previous owner did some modification. Anyway, my redline is a lot higher than most auto's I've driven, usually goes a little beyond redline. I'm sure some of you are familiar with the redline of an 03 0Z, well my tach redlines at about 8, maybe 8 1/2. Could this be from an ECU upgrade unknown to me? Is there a way to check?

WOW! 8 maybe 8 1/2? I don't think that's possible.

^As far as the product you have found. It uses CO2 to cool the metal in the intake piping and then provide colder air. Nothing really special. They also make coolers for fuel and intercoolers. CO2 is cheap but the whole kit is kind of expensive. You need a tank, and couple other things not included in the picture you have found.

my brothers second lancer was an auto and it over rev'd anytime he was at wide open throttle WITHOUT any ECU mods. the car would shift slow. in between gears you would watch the RPM's race to about 7100 and then the car would slam back into gear...felt like the torque convertor was going to grenade. it definetly was not normal either. try reseting the ECU and driving conservetivly to lower your shift point.

Definitely not normal. Even with mods, that shouldn't be happening. Look in or around the ECU area (under the glove box) to see if anything had been added. Also, reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery.

WOW, I drove an automatic Lancer before and it was nothing like that. This is crazy, and a good reason to get a free car from Mitsu.

thats not the redline. the autos have one of those adaptive transmissions, and it will continue to run depending how you drive it, and it will run past redline, but i highly doubt 7.5, that is beyond fuelcut, or at least mine is about 6500-6750.
