No one makes an aftermarket one that works with a stock header type hook up. I for one would love a downpipe that works with my RRM header since my only option is to buy a new header if I want to get rid of that restriction.

yeah i hear ya i have the kamakzi (sp?) and its ok just really annoying @ higher rpms
and the only reason i bought it cause it came w/ a downpipe and i thought i was getting a better deal (i was such a noob) if i had to do it again id go w/ rpws a bit pricey but ive only heard good things about it.

you can only get an aftermarket downpipe with headers for our cars. if you want just the dp, then you should go to an exhaust shop and have them make you one.

Getting rid of the 1" pinch is key. I believe Engineerboy (now alchemist) made a how too on this some time back

^ no offence to RRM but Im pretty sure they said the gains wernt worth making it.

Most likely what happened was that they decided that they didnt want to make 2 different headers, one for turbo and one for not. Its a lot more cost for them, but you cant tell me that an exhaust getting pintched as much as the Lancer DP does is not restricting flow. Whats the point of having a complete freeflowing 2-1/4 exhaust if it gets pinched as much as it does in the DP section. You are letting all this air freely flow out of the engine to pintch it and then to let it move free again.

I dont think that they would have to make 2 different down pipes, the stock down pipe works with there header and with the turbo down/up pipes. I have turboed my car with there up/down pipes. If they add a flex joint like the stock dp there should be no problems. Maby your talkin about diameter for turbo vs non? but that wouldnt matter too much because the after market exhausts only go so big and after a certain diameter theres not enough backpressure and the whole efficiency of the system goes out the door. I dunno i just dont think that the gains were enough that they would start producing it.

RRM believe the DP adds nothing.

Most of the Lancer community disagrees. But they won't sell them.
Buschur stopped selling them.

Alchemist was making custom ones. Don't know if he still is. He could make a mint if he still does.

It's nothing but a straight pipe with a 90-degree bend and some hangers. Get a muffler shop to make you one...
