Air intake/CEL

I just installed a MAF adapter with a filter on it to my 02 Lancer ES and as soon as I started it up the CEL light came on. Do I NEED to reset my ECU? I would prefer not to but if that is what it takes let me know. I don't know if the seal is PERFECT on the gasket going to the MAF but it wouldnt leak much air at all... Car runs, idles, and drives perfectly.

HAHA, funny you mention that. I started the car up and it sputtered a bit but I couldn't figure out why... Of course I had the sensor unplugged. So, disconnect negative battery, let sit for 15 minutes or so, hook it back up, let car idle for 10 minutes, take it out driving for 20 minutes or so of variable driving to reset the ECU I think?

Just stopped by the place I bought the stuff from. He said that because I started it up without the MAF plugged in the ECU didn't find it when I plugged it back in so he just hooked it up to the computer and reset the code. Easy as that. The ECU reset would have done the same thing probably...
