My CEL never came on.... it shouldn't. There isn't a sensor to tell you it's a good idea to replace your plugs...

Also comatose721 I don't mean to offend you cause everyone says you know your way around Lancers pretty good.... However, if you look at the sticker on the hood that basically talks about the cat and emissions certification bull crap, it states that the spark plug gap should be set to 0.039-0.043, not 0.044.

no offense taken. i'd much rather be corrected and get the right info out there. i could have sworn i read that in the shop manual. i'll take another look and see what i find; maybe there is a different print in my shop manual OR maybe i am dead wrong. thanks for looking out.

But again it only seams to do it when the A/C is on. I'm gonna check my plugs and wires and see what I find but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem.

Also, if one of the coil packs goes bad is there a way to tell it or is that one of those things where you just replace it and see if the car gets better?

before i even read your post.. i saw "misfiring" .... immediately i thought... this guy just needs plugs... you should also look into getting some magnecore wires if your dont already have some

there's no set milage. just keep an eye on them for wear-and-tear. also inspect the boots. if you start getting any sort or ground/arcing issue, it will show tell tale signs.
