Maybe because your intake is sucking up hot air from the header and upper coolant hose? i'd stay far away from those two

Exactly, I put a cold-air intake on my 05 es. I paid 30$ for it and then put on a K&N filter. Stick with your intake, I have seen an increase in power and a little extra MPG.
