Ok so check this out. Lately I have been thinking about my SRI and the cold weather that has come around. It just loves the morning weather but I would like more in there so I came up with the thought of putting part of the intake tube back in pulling in more air.
So one night I came home, broke out the stock air box and pulled off the first two parts of it and looked...
That bulb was a problem. It was slowing air flow so I took it off. I grabbed a pair of pliers and got to twisting and pulling
and eventually all four came off (Its just flimsy metal) and I looked...PERFECT!
So, I took it to the car the next day and tried to fit it back in but it would not fit with RRM's "Heat Shield" sooo I took it off, put the air box tubes back in...
but now the SRI is kinda just resting in the box with no real support but it was also just kinda resting on the "heat shield" when I had that on.
Do any of you guys think that could cause any problems in the long run with movement? I know it moves but I don't think that much... Let me know.
This morning was a brisk one! So I pull out of my road onto a pickup truck that was about to pass my road going the road going around 60 so I pulled out and gave the Lancer some gas to see if I could catch it and not too much time in the suicide lane later I was on its bumper! (He passed me but was not pulling away at all so I matched speed pretty quick) I shoulda recorded it
I wanna say better throttle responce but I am skeptical because it was a cold morning, the car did heat up all the way but it was just under "normal temp" and I wanted to see slight results.
Do you guys think it helped any and if my SRI could get damaged by resting inside the box?
Try it!

Only real problem I can see is you might be choking the filter but apart from that it should be fine. Might wanna build a bracket to hold the MAS still though, that way it won't bang around.
I think that is an ingenious idea. It should help get cooler air to the SRI. I don't think it can hurt. As far as the SRI flopping around. I made a bracket that attaches to the strut tower, just like the NSC damper, and then bolts right to the MAS adapter. I painted it so it looks good and it works great.
