Our transmission is WAY too big

If u look in front of the battery on a manual, u can see the ground. If u look in front of the battery on an automatic, u can see our transmission blocking the ground. That's the difference.

EDIT: Special thanks to Trance for teacing me that today

Prolly won't find room. If you did you have to remember that you engine moves quite a bit on the motor mounts. If it did fit idling in the driveway, it won't fit when you drive around.

U can always do what my friend Trance did. He put scoops where that fake mesh thing is on the sides of our bumper. At the end of the scoops are hoses that lead all the way to his intake. He is ramming SOOOO much air into his engine bay, it's almost like a CAI. In fact, it's as close to a CAI u can get with an automatic. Unless u wanna get all Ghetto and do what Booyah did (GODCAI).

I did the same thing with 3" ducting, it gets air rammed in and dumps out right in front of the air filter, check out a picture that I have of it in the Lancer General forum titled "Custom combo SRI/CAI". I'm planning on running a second 3" duct from the passenger side also along with an enclosure around the filter to block some of the hot air from the engine bay. I'll probably post pics of that when I'm done.

The RMR short ram intake uses the factory hood scoop to get cold air and I think at least a few people like J'sLancerLS have made custom ductwork CAIs. Try a search for DIY CAI how-to custom and other such keywords.
