Not bad for your first try. Here is a piq of the PPi manifold. I just did this one for on of the moderators here (Otter). He noticed a nice gain from the work, definately worth doing.

More can be seen here http://www.paradigmperformance.net/p...lliart/im.html

i just used some metal grinding bits from a local hardware store when i did mines. IM waiting to get the porting kit in the mail so i can finish polishing everything up. Theres a few kits by standard abrasives out on ebay. I got mines for $40 i believe. Pretty cheap.

^ thats exactly where i was gonna get mines from. You don't really need the kit untill the finishing touches on the porting. A grinding bit will gunk up on you but i managed to do a pretty decent job. The kit would just be for smoothing out the port job and polishing.

you can P&P with an aluminum bur (as mentioned) and a die grinder or hand drill. I picked up a set of burs from Harbor freight for $20. The die grinder was $45. I polished with some sanding cylinders that I bought from a local performance shop, but you can find them online. Eastwood carries them and google will not only bring up where to buy them but you'll find tutorials, too. Why does someone here have to do a DIY for info that's been out for years? I used the gasket to mark out where I wanted to stop- going beyond the edge of the gasket is a waste of time unless you're porting the head side to match AND you're getting a new gasket that has larger openings.

well, thats pretty much exactly what my write up would be, lol. i mean theres not much to it. hardest part is getting the manifold on and off the car (which i can now do in under 20 minutes, lol)

Because that's how people are.

You did a DIY on getting a tank of gas, so hush.

the one thing I still don't understand about porting a manifold is the you can only port out the throttle body side and the side that connects to the head, but not deep inside the runners. Wouldn't this make the port useless since the air still can't get through the thinner runners? Maybe I'm missing something, or it's been covered, but thats just what always confused me.

I will try and shed some more light on this.
If you are keeping the stock sized t/body there is no porting that is needed to be done on the intake manifold inlet. The only work to be done is to the runners. One the ralliart you can only go about 2-3" inside the port due to the curvature of the runners. What is to be gained is to fix the port mismatch from the intake mani to the head. Evo's and Ralliart's have the same port mismatch. Here is a piq to show you what I mean...

I am probably giving away too many secrets lol

On the G94 runners, there's a buildup of aluminum near the opening- the tubes get thicker. That's the material you're removing. It's like a little ramp, and your material removal is less aggressive as you get deeper into the runner. Once you're in there with the bur or sanding cylinder it becomes immediately obvious what's going on.

I love bursting bubbles, so I'll come out and say it: this stuff ain't rocket surgery. There aren't any "tricks" or "secrets". Stay within the parameters that are set (the opening of the gasket) and take your time. It's just like any other project that you've never done before.

as for my fuel install, that's still the best DIY on teh intarweb so YOU hush, DJ You're not going to find that info anywhere else in print porting on the other hand has TONS of websites that discuss it, incl methods, theories, how much is too much, etc.
