4g64 question

i know that 4g64's can be swapped into the 02 but would it work in an 06?

and if it would has anyone ever thought about doing the 4g64 and destroking it to a 2.1 with a lot of boost. i know the sbr destroked kits are for a 4g64 and they are only 3,800 witch is not bad considering the rrm turbo kits are 4,000. all in all it would cost more but you would get a great deal more power and lots more boost and rpm's.

comments please

Yes, the same engine is being removed so the same engine can go in. Not sure on the rest, do you really want to drive a 400 hp FWD car?

i have in the past a couple time, my 96 gs-t, my 89 mirage turbo. i like the challenge of keeping the front wheels on the ground.
plus i have 5+ friends that i cruise with who all have 400+ hp fwd cars and i just wanna fit in, jk

You;re going to ruin an 06 already?? Shoot, I must be the most frugal man on here because I wont touch my 04.

Also, please note that is the price of the shortblock from SBR. You still need an Evo head, not to mention axles, wiring harnesses, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, turbo etc etc. You $ee where I am going with thi$?

i know, i said the kit which i meant the shortblock kit, but after that i said it would cost more but the performance would be much better. and i have alread put about 3,500 into the car on suspension, wheels and tires, and some look good things and the car does not even have 8,000k on it yet. it was not the way i wanted it from the factory and thats the reason i bought it brand new, so i could do everything i want to it and know it will be done right.

I'm not sure if the performance would be much better, higher hp certainly but that's not necessarily the best thing.

the fact that there are so much more options with the 4g64 block destroked w/ an evo head makes it way more tempting for me. i would like to have more power ability than i need just so i can tune it to what works best for me.

My bad... If I only knew how to read.

Good luck with the project. I know how it is when you have projects with engine swaps (see sig) and to go for something as madddd as that will be frustrating but well rewarding.

not just a 4g64, a destroked 2.1 4g64 w/ an evo head, gt35r turbo setup, and some sort of tranny that will not bind under 10k rpms... and my car currently has a 10yr/100k mile warranty too. it is just about to hit 9k miles and i figure its about that time!

To do what, ruin a perfectly good warranty?
