4B11 break-in
I come from the school of the drive it like you stole it break in. Seriously, drive it like you willl over it's life. It seats components and stresses things and if it breaks better to find out now than later.
Agree'd, ive had mine for almost 700 miles and driven the thing like hell since i got it 2 weeks ago, nothing bad yet.. except for maybe the hesitation the other day when i tried starting it
. But if the car is as "smart" as they say and it adapts to a drivers habits, accel and braking, drive it like you normally would, id say atleast go a little easier for the first hundred or two, but dont drive it like an old person, worst comes to worst bring it back and say it was defective.

^^ ive heard of some people who have autocrossed their BRAND new car to break in the engine. some people prefer to put it to limit right when u buy it so the ECU adapts. others like to break it in slowly and wait till about 1,000 miles to actually push the car. i guess its all preference. in my case, i babied my GTS till about 400 miles.
I beleive that Mitsubishi broke in the engines from the factory. I have taken it easy for the first 1000km now I am having fun . My question if anyone can answer I plan to do my first oil change at 3000km why does my Service manual and car say 12000 for the first carry in. I have never owned a new car before what gives. I figured that at 3000 it would be best if there are any impurities that came off during Break in this would be the best time to get them out what do you think?

I never did.
I put every suspension mod available at the time on that car, but I only did . . . uh . . . "non-sanctioned motorsports" . . . late at night . . . while avoiding police cars . . . if you know what I mean. The 02 handled really well around the twisties, I will say.

I doubt I have the resolve. The list of parts that RRM already has is tempting me. And I know they're just going to keep at it... We shall see how it goes!
Ok I have gotten to 3000km and I decided you know what I want an oil change if any impurities have come off during breakin it would be a good time right . Plus I want to make a trip to New York from Toronto. So I went to the dealership they advised me that they will do the oil change if i want but they say that the oil in the engine now has special additives which are needed for the break in process. Or also for long storage on the lot. Do you think I should go ahead with the oil change and I was thinking of using Mobil 1 instead of Mitsubishi oil.

Hard to say. I'd like to know if dino or synthetic is recommended, but I don't see it anywhere. I assume dino.
3000km is a pretty good amount. It's hard to say. Maybe call around for 2nd and 3rd opinions?
