Exhaust header

Has anyone started on exhaust headers for the 08 lancer? There is so much room behind the engine, it would be a shame not to use it.

The header would should help take advantage of a scavenging effect. I don't know what the valve overlap is, but I would think that with a good intake, header, and exhaust, I think we can see some real power gains.

There is room, yes. However, you have to consider the temperature. It's close to the firewall and the last tihng u want is to heat that up.

Thats were the new turbo for the evo X is located, so I am sure they have that covered as for the heat situtation. The latest issue of Road & Track has a pic. http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=5214
DC Sports is currently doing the exhaust headers as we speak, thats what they told me bcuz they are working on my car.

07 dodge caliber SXT parts the same?

if you are looking for a header the caliber 2.0l is a 4b11 and it has a few parts out for it, i myself am doing some testing with home made gear trying to copy the intake off of the caliber's k and n intake. if you look at the posts i have made i have some links to mopar and k and n, check it out for yourself. if you cant find the links PM me. later

The Lancer and the Caliber use different heads. The block is the same. I don't know is the mopar header would fit. It might not be a direct bolt on, or it could leak. If you are willing to try it let us know if it works, but you will be out some money if it doesn't

I don't think that heat will be a problem on the firewall. There is a heat shield there and a lot of room. You could always fabricate another heat shield for the header or use some type of heat wrap.

I had my car up on a lift today while I was changing my oil. A few things I noticed were the cat is way under the car. A header should be easy to install. there are only three bolts on the bottom and three more on top. There is probably enough room to have long tube headers and still have a cat to keep it street legal.

The stock muffler is huge and I am sure very restrictive. The the rest of the exhaust seems to be a good diameter and probably free flowing even with the two resonators. This car seems to be very easy to work on.

I know a couple of people talked about prototype headers, I wonder how those are coming along.

I hope soon. I'm kinda missing the power of my srt4(stg 1 ecu, stg 2 680cc injectors, SRI, 62mmTB, 3in catless dp, and injen exhaust) I was beating g35's and 350Z's all day with it. I wanna make so more power with my lancer so I can do it again.
