2008 GTS Mods & Warranty?
I'm leaving it stock.
I had an 02 Lancer. I know what intake and exhaust will get on a small-displacement motor (answer - not much; see my dyno numbers in the registry). It's not worth the possibility of losing a kickass warranty just to have a modification or two. And since RRM and Works have already stated that the exhaust mods yield no gains (except looks and sound), it's really not worth it. I know an intake will make a couple HP, but I'm happy with the car as is.

im person the car sounds extremely sweet, nice and deep, not ricey at all. we tried a few different mufflers to get the one that sounded the best and provided the best flow with just enough back pressure so the car created more hp.
the final production piece will differ from show time's in that it has a stainless magnaflow muffler that has alittle deeper tone than the protoype, it is full madrel bent and has a stainless tip versus a chrome tip.
we should have the production exhausts soon and i promise that u guys will be thrilled with it.

i am either gonna wait for mitsu to come out with an exhaust and let them install it, or buy the one from RRM and ask if mitsu would install it may be to keep my warranty....if warranty would be voided i will just wait for mitsu to come out with parts...
Mods just dont void your warranty because its a mod, and having mitsu install it wont do anything but cost you money. If you have an exhuast and a fuel injector goes bad they will still have to honor your warranty and put in a new one. If you put on an intake and you drop your tranny they will still have to put a new tranny in. Now then if you take a hose and spray water on your intake when the car is running and it sucks in water the NO they want honor your warranty for destroying the motor. They have to prove that your mod caused the problem. There are laws out there to protect you , but there is a fine line there to.

magnuson-moss warranty ruling--clarified--
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a quick explanation of the MAGNUSON MOSS WARRANTY ACT for anybody that is worried about aftermarket parts and warranties.
US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov. For additional information, check out the following links:

A group buy is totally up to the vendor. If ROCK wants to do one, then he can. I don't think he normally does them, but rather puts one or two items on sale per month down in the Vendor Classifieds.
so if you're that worried about voiding your warranty either don't touch it or pay the extra money and buy
approved parts. doesn't really matter who installs it as long as it doesn't cause other damage as exlained earlier

Yeah ill pay the extra money for the Mitsu Approved parts just for that awesome peace of mind. Its no different than someone who is computer building challanged buying a sick computer from alienware when you can build it yourself for 2k less
. mmm peace of mind.

Get this, I talked to my dealership in Milwaukee, WI and the salesman who sold me the car suggested I use RRM parts for my car! He said if I buy the exhaust and the intake from RRM, the dealership would install both for under $100 together and they would in no way void the warranty at all!

hmmmm
Interesting news.
Yeah I didn't even mention RRM, he knew about it. Small world huh? He also said that even springs wouldn't void the warranty unless there was significant proof that they had caused the problem, and that good springs would far outlast the warranty on the car.
Damn. That is str8 as hell.
Make sure you let ROCK know from RRM unless you already told him. I bet those guys would like to hear that.
I need to talk to my dealership and see if I can get the same response.

well you have to understand that you would only void the warranty if whatever you install causes direct damage to the something else, like the tranny. so it doesn't matter what you install, just has to be a
approved part. and the warranty is damn good, so i would choose wisely before throwing parts into the car.
designed the lancer for a targeted group, tuners. there is tons of room in the engine for many upgrades. so i'm sure the approved parts list is a very wide range, but i could be wrong. but when i talked to my dealer they had nothing out for it yet.
