Break in question

I feel like an idiot for asking, but what is the proper way to break in the car?
I know not to rev it to high, thats a given, but what kind of limits should I take into consideration?

Just don't run it hard. Keep your RPMs below 4-4.5. Mitsu recommends only a 300 mile breakin, but I'm over cautious and went to 1000.

I have read that an engine should be under load as much as possible when it's breaking in. This doesn't mean high rpm, it just means load. I think the suggestion to vary the RPM as much as possible (so stop and go would be better than just driving on the freeway) is a good one.

Thanks for the info. Thats kinda the idea I had but its always good to confirm before making an idiot of oneself. The sad thing is my deal for the Lancer fell through with the bank... so in short no Lancer
