New Product Coming to a Lancer near you.......

I emailed Unorthodox Racing a little while ago asking them to make a UR Pulley for the 4G94...here's there response:

Stay tuned as the pulleys and flywheel will be available soon .

Thanks for your interest,
UR

Subject: re: Product Development from Mitsubishi Lancer

Hi,

I was just wondering if Unorthodox was going to produce a crank pulley for the 2002-2003 Mitsubishi Lancer, not the Evolution. I know Unorthodox makes quality products and I had UR pulleys on my Eclipse. I was hoping you could look into this for me and get back to me. I am writing on behalf of the 1000+ Lancer owners located at Evolutionm.net that modify there Lancers. Without a company like you getting behind our car, we will never have
quality pulleys to add power and make our cars that much better. I look forward to you're response.

Thanks for you're Time,

Jeff Truax

What's the difference? The base units? They can all be changed anyway.

I wouldn't trust AEM's time frames anyway. They're pushing the UEGO hard and they had been saying the AEM EMS for the Lancer was available MONTHS before it really was. Hell, even now that it is, it still doesn't have a working base map.

EDIT: BTW, the UR flywheel and probably even pullies from the 97-2000 1.8l Mirages probably already fit.

Someone tried it before if I remember correctly and there was slippage.....and if they did in fact fit, then UR would have test fit a car and already had it out on the market now.....the Lancer came out a while ago and its mid-2003 now. I find it hard to believe that UR would be saying there "available soon" if they weren't in fact different pulleys and flywheels. Otherwise they would have just replied "buy the 1.8L Lancer Pulley and fly wheel". A comment the explicitly said NOT to do with their products.

Unorthodox has promised parts for the Lancer several times in the past as well.

they might make a difference and everyone lay off the flames. I have heard though that our fly wheel is pretty damn light and it is gonna be tough to beat it but hey i hope they prove me wrong

I don't think they've tested everything. We have IDENTICAL trannies as the 4g93. The only differences being our displacement, bore and stroke. Of course there I'm speaking of the flywheel. As for the pullies/dampers, it may work with a different belt i.e. a Mirage belt. I don't see any flames personally. I know if Paul or I meant any offense we'd just come right out and say it. Anywho, what I'm getting at is UR's lack of in depth research. I'll try calling them if I get the chance cuz they're located right by my gf's on Long Island.

If i remember right, its not that they are light it is that no more material can be removed from them with out being to weak. However they could be made from a lighter material to shed some weight. I think rob said this awhile back that they had looked into thining them out, and the fly wheels just got to weak.

On a piddly NA engine such as the Lancer's to much weight off the flywheel will kill torque.
