what's that circled piece? it just seems to stick up for no apparent reason.

and now i know. obviously i'm not planning on pulling the engine anytime soon since i didn't know what that was. i'm learning though.

Not only is it a hook point for the motor. It made a damn fine place to put the wire for the cylinder head for my DIY grounding kit.
